Staff Role Tiers
The Staff Roles panel controls which Discord roles get command access in NexaBot, and how much of it. Rather than granting one flat "staff" permission, it splits access into three tiers.
The three tiers
| Tier | Access |
|---|---|
| Staff | Base access — general moderation commands |
| Moderator | Full moderation — bans, kicks, mutes, and AutoMod control |
| Admin | Full server configuration access, including setup commands |
Each tier is assigned by role — you add a Discord role ID to whichever tier matches what that role should be able to do. A role can be added to more than one tier if it should have combined access.
Match tiers to real trust levels
A common mistake is putting every helper into the same tier as full moderators. Someone who helps answer questions and welcome new members usually only needs Staff access — reserve Moderator for people you trust with bans and AutoMod control, and Admin for the smallest group who should be able to reconfigure the server itself.
How this fits with role hierarchy
Staff Role Tiers control what NexaBot lets a role do through commands — they're separate from Discord's own role hierarchy, which controls what NexaBot itself is capable of doing to a given member. See Permissions Troubleshooting for how those two systems interact.
