Picking Good Staff
Staff are the difference between a server that runs itself and one that depends entirely on you being online. Picking the right people matters more than picking a lot of people.
Look for who's already doing it
The best staff picks are usually people who were already helping before they had a role — answering questions, welcoming new members, calming things down without being asked. Giving someone a role rarely changes their character; it just gives them the tools to do more of what they were already doing.
Tip
If you're not sure who to consider, look back through your case history and general activity — the names that show up helping, not causing the cases, are usually your answer.
Activity isn't the same as fit
Someone who's online constantly and posts a lot isn't automatically staff material — being present is different from being level-headed under pressure. The person you want handling a heated argument at 2am is someone who stays calm, not just someone who's awake.
Start small
A trial period — a temporary helper role, a limited set of permissions — tells you more in a few weeks than any conversation about their intentions would. Most servers don't need to make staffing a huge, formal decision. It's fine to try someone out and adjust.
Fewer, trusted people beats a big team
A large staff team sounds like more coverage, but it often means less consistency — more people making judgment calls their own way. A smaller group who all handle situations similarly tends to feel fairer to members than a bigger team that doesn't.
Let people step back without it being a big deal
Being staff is often unpaid and can be genuinely tiring. Making it easy for someone to quietly step down — without it feeling like a failure or a falling out — keeps your best people willing to help again later instead of burning out and disappearing entirely.
Note
If you're bringing someone onto Nexa Studio's own moderator or team roles specifically, see Roles & Agreements for what those agreements actually require before the role is given.
